Job offer: Instrumentation and Control Engineer (CRYO)

Requirements:

Master’s degree or equivalent in Instrumentation and Control Systems or relevant disciplines.

Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field.

Advanced English proficiency (minimum B2).

Experience in at least one of the following areas:

Design, implementation, and/or commissioning of large industrial control systems: >1000 I/O, >5 PLC CPUs with distributed remote I/O and real-time communications between components.

Design, implementation, and/or commissioning of I&C systems, particularly integration activities, in large scientific facilities (particle accelerators, fusion reactors, large telescopes).

Design, implementation, and/or commissioning of HVAC/BMS systems.

 

Desirable skills:

Experience in the development and review of technical documentation for large industrial projects: requirement specifications, technical reviews and notes, engineering design documentation, test and acceptance documentation, etc.

Experience in technical oversight of I&C projects in the field – customer installations – and commissioning activities.

Experience in the development of applications for industrial environments using programming languages Java, C/C++, Python, and/or high-level PLC programming.

Experience in middleware and industrial communication protocols – OPC UA, S7, Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, etc.

Experience in the development and testing of applications based on the Linux operating system.

 

Main tasks:

Support and follow-up on the design and implementation of I&C systems for ITER vacuum systems, particularly for leak detection and location systems, as well as in the following areas:

Proposal, review, and testing of solutions for the integration of plant systems into ITER central systems: OPC-UA interfaces, ITER CODAC/EPICS communication and development tools, ITER PLC libraries and tools, MARTe framework.

Critical review of plant system architectures and technologies, ensuring coherence within ITER plant system solutions, integrability, and proposed improvements.

Support for I&C qualification activities (environmental, EMC, radiation, magnetic field) in coordination with other similar plant systems activities within ITER.

General support for monitoring the development and commissioning activities of ITER plant control systems, using ITER I&C integration technologies, particularly in:

Additional heating systems for ITER (neutron beam and electron cyclotron).

Integration of buildings and electrical distribution into ITER central systems.

 

Location: On-site. Diagonal Mar area, Barcelona (Spain)

Salary: starting at 40.000€, depending on experience.
